Volunteers are vital to the success of our program. Apply to become a volunteer by clicking on your preferred site below and completing the application. Following your application submission, a member of our team will contact you with next steps. Please be advised, if you are 18 and over, you will be required to complete a background check. In addition, all volunteers must complete orientation and training before starting.

Students & Student Organizations (K-12 & College)
Each summer Breakthrough Miami welcomes 900 vibrant and talented Scholars full of promise and potential to engage in exciting and rigorous learning and enrichment experiences. Be a part of the Village that makes this all possible. We have a multitude of opportunities for summer engagement and support.
Supporting Volunteer- Campus monitoring, general supervision, campus maintenance, data entry, Zoom hosting activities, Scholar outreach, capture pictures/videos, etc.
Lead Volunteer- Tutoring, social media, special projects, and events, lead an academic or elective session, etc. Teaching Assistant Program- Professional development program for aspiring Teaching Fellows.
Teaching Assistants provide Teaching Fellows with avid support throughout the summer program. Teaching Assistants will be able to contribute to lesson planning activities and will be responsible for teaching 2 mini-lessons and actively participating in the learning process in the classroom.
Special Engagement Volunteer- Students of any age are invited to organize supply drives, special workshops, clinics/tutorials, and special events.

Interested in becoming part of the Breakthrough Miami Volunteer Council?
A student-led council bridging the gaps between Scholar, Volunteer, and Board of Directors to connect every aspect of Breakthrough Miami to become one. Enhancing leadership capacities including communication, collaboration, problem-solving, near-peer mentoring practices, civic literacy, and engaged citizenship. This council assists Breakthrough Miami with social media marketing efforts to increase awareness and support as well as engage and elevate the Breakthrough Miami volunteer community through training, and other volunteer-led initiatives.
