Celebrating Jason Jenkins Day of Service

Today, we honor and celebrate the heavenly birthday of Jason Jenkins, a beloved community leader and an irreplaceable member of our Breakthrough Miami family. As a dedicated Breakthrough Miami Board Member and Senior Vice President of Communications & Community Affairs for the Miami Dolphins, Jason left a profound mark on our Village and South Florida community.

Jason was a beacon of hope and possibility, whose impact radiated far beyond words. His commitment to amplifying voices, connecting communities, and creating positive change lives on through all those he touched. Jason’s leadership and kindness taught us the power of selfless service, and his legacy is carried forward in our collective efforts to build a brighter, more educated and connected community.

Honoring Jason’s memory and embodying his spirit of service and leadership, Breakthrough Miami participated as a Football Unites partner during today’s Jason Jenkins Day of Service, engaging and connecting Miami Dolphins team members with Breakthrough Miami Staff and alumni.

Each year, our Village comes together to prepare care packages for our Scholar graduates in their first year of college, which can serve as extra inspiration to encourage our alumni to excel and reach their potential. This year, our Breakthrough Miami team members joined us in writing words of encouragement on specially designed cards along with a special memento featuring positive affirmations, which were added to the care packages.

As part of this service, Breakthrough Miami invited Breakthrough Miami Alumni and past recipients of the Jason Jenkins Service award to join us via Zoom to inspire and enlighten the group. The Jason Jenkin service award is dedicated to students who were recognized for their exceptional service leadership. They follow in Jason Jenkins’ life and legacy as agents of change for the Miami community and they serve as young role models and powerful inspiration to our Village.

Let us honor Jason by living out his legacy – working tirelessly for the causes he championed, fostering unity, and turning compassion into action. His spirit lives on in the efforts of all who are committed to a brighter future. By continuing to push for change, inspire others, and grow our impact, we keep Jason’s light shining brightly.
