Aside from her many notable qualities and skills, Celine regularly enjoys drawing, reading, playing video games, and practicing her piano skills. 🎹

When she graduates in 2031, Celine dreams of attending college and becoming an artist or a successful content creator.

In honor of #AmeriCorpsWeek, we’re celebrating our Breakthrough Miami Teaching Fellows and @AmeriCorps members who embody what it means to serve with PURPOSE.

As part of their training and development, our Teaching Fellows participate in meaningful service projects across our community, supporting beautification initiatives, assisting in school restoration efforts, and lending their time and energy wherever it’s needed most. These hands-on projects reflect the heart of @AmeriCorps, turning everyday acts of service into lasting, community-wide change.

Shoutout to Breakthrough Miami Scholar and 5th-grade student at @materacademy.of.international, JD Alcenor! 🍎

JD is a natural-born leader and a "breakalicious" student. He is self aware, responsible, and a committed friend toward his Scholar peers. Already demonstrating exceptional leadership skills at an early age, JD makes choices with integrity and is always willing to help whenever needed. His vibrant energy lights up any room he walks into and his confidence is contagious!

Outside of our Breakthrough Village, JD's hobbies include playing baseball and singing; His favorite music genre is R&B, and his favorite baseball player is @ronaldacunajr13. ⚾

When he graduates in 2033, JD's goals include pursuing a bachelors degree in criminal justice at @Harvard and creating a law firm with his friends. ⚖️

Breakthrough Miami serves nearly 200 AmeriCorps Members each year including 28 Success Coaches who lead 1:1 and small group advising during the school year, and 160 AmeriCorps Teaching Fellows who lead engaging instruction and mentorship during summer programming.

Recognized as one of the most dedicated advocates for children and families in the country, David Lawrence Jr. played an integral role in bringing our students-teaching-students model to South Florida, helping Breakthrough Miami raise, “money, friends, and attention” during our early days.

In addition to having been a renowned newspaper editor and publisher for the @MiamiHerald, Dave is a beacon for change in our community who has dedicated his life to serving others. Dave played a crucial role in founding numerous community organizations including @TheChildrensTrust and countless others, helping emerging leaders make their mark in Miami.

Thanks to David's tireless work as a changemaker, Breakthrough Miami was propelled as a powerful launchpad for generations of students striving to reach their fullest potential.

Shoutout to Breakthrough Miami Volunteer CHANGEMAK

Shoutout to Breakthrough Miami Volunteer CHANGEMAKER, Georgia Kassewitz! ✏️

Although Georgia only recently joined our Breakthrough Village earlier this year, she has already proven herself as a valuable addition to our Changemaker cohort.

In addition to offering help whenever she's able, Georgia leads with heart, pride, and embodies many of our Breakthrough values. Georgia arrives to every Super Saturday earlier than her scheduled time simply to help our Staff set up for the day. She has been known to step up and take charge of any classrooms that needed additional assistance, and has even applied to additional cabinet positions within our Village. Seeking to create additional impact, Georgia has curated multiple service projects for our host site campus to engage in, and has even created a wish list of supplies to ensure our Scholars, Changemakers, and Fellows always have the proper essentials to lead maximum impact.

In addition to her responsibilities as a Changemaker, Georgia has taken on additional responsibilities, including administration duties, bus, and tutoring duties. Georgia is on a fast track to being fully on our @Miami_Country_Day_School cabinet next year and is excited to continue growing and expanding her service over the next few years!

Outside of being a Changemaker, Georgia is the President-in-training of @BestBuddies, serves as a member of the Student Advisory Board for @BestBuddiesSFL, is a Breakthrough Miami Club Member, is a Garner Scholar, a Model UN club member, and a member of the National Junior Honors Society.

When she graduates in 2029, Georgia hopes to attend a top 20 university, major in Business or International Relations, and become an entrepreneur or business owner that works toward opening schools in developing countries to promote equal access to education.

Breakthroughs are in your future, Georgia. Congratulations! 👏
