We are excited to announce that Breakthrough Miami has achieved national accreditation in strategic volunteer engagement by AL!VE.

Achieving Service Enterprise accreditation is a prestigious accomplishment. We have joined the top 11 percent of nonprofits nationwide in volunteer management and organizational performance. This rigorous accreditation underscores our capability and expertise to strategically engage volunteers and community members to advance our mission and improve impact.

Our team completed an extensive assessment, over nearly 2 years of training and coaching, and an extensive internal planning and change process to better integrate volunteers into our human capital strategy. By achieving this level of excellence and accreditation, we are equipped to leverage the time and talent of community members and volunteers to deliver our mission.

Last year, we meaningfully engaged more than 600 volunteers who led 32,500 hours of service and continued to refine our Teaching Assistant program as a leadership pathway for high schoolers aspiring towards the “purple shirt” (our Teaching Fellowship). Our student volunteers lead instruction and mentorship, exude breakalicious spirit, foster a student-led community, and support a rigorous and transformative Scholar experience. Additionally, more than 100 adult volunteers each year step up and lean in to enhance Breakthrough programming and advance our mission. Our Advisory and Parent Liaisons are a strong asset and critical to our success.

Volunteer programming is a key strength and unique asset for Breakthrough Miami and is well-positioned to advance the organization’s strategic imperatives in the upcoming 5-year strategic plan. Breakthrough Miami’s Chief Strategy Officer, Lauren Kellner Rudolph, reflects, “Over the last five years, our volunteer program has evolved into a dynamic force driving both growth and depth within our organization.
